Wher they
(Well, I guess I am too much into Steven Universe)
I headcanoned that they weren’t that close friends. Sorta like early season 1 levels of friendship; also, that Sunset had been sabotaging the whole enterprise for longer than that, making the events mentioned in the film the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Also, some degree of it can be explained by the turbulent emotional state teenagers (especially what I think freshmen are (stupid american grade names; it’s 7th grade, no? 7th grade sucked) ) often find themselves in; friendships can break for the stupidest crap, and the dangerous mixture of pride and general “growing up and learning to deal with stuff” thing they have going on can put some intense barricades in simple solutions such as just talking it out.
I’m generally forgiving of the seeming idioticy of it all, since more or less exactly that happened with my sister and one of her dear friends (I never got the full details and it’s been quite some time, but it was more or less something like that; but-you-said-this-but-I-thought-that somehow sent the whole thing burning down). Ah, well. I admit I do tend to be very tolerating of dumb writing like this.
…Also, I don’t really take into account the EqG comics (like the prequel one and especially the Holiday one).
But they were ALSO very close friends prior to Sunset’s text message scheme breaking them up, so there could have been a good period of time where they’d gone to camp together. (Still boggles my mind how that works, did they not think to ASK each other about weird text messages they were getting? I mean, seriously)
They do not react to Gloriosa at all; in fact, I sort of have the feeling they’ve never gone to Camp Everfree before.
Also, reminder that the Humane 5, like, hated each other’s guts for an unspecified amount of time before the events of the first film — which, if they DID go to CE before, maybe (or maybe not; unspecified amount of time, after all) puts a dent on the theory.
However, Luna and Celestia are there, and they went to CE back when they were students. Maybe the relation is there?
They’re actually only the color of 5 of the group: Not twilight or Sunset.
I’m wondering if that’s important: like maybe She’s old friends with the other 5 from the last time they went to camp?
Mmm? I cannot check right now, but I though the crystals on her necklace were of the color of the Humane 6/7?
The cave (from what we’ve seen at any rate) only has red and white-blue crystals.
Maybe the crystals on her necklace actually prevent her transformations into Gaia Everfree? If we go with the “she transforms into Gaia involuntarily” route anyway.
Actually, Gloriosa wears crystals from the cave on a necklace the whole time.
@Animanga21
Your ideas are stunning!
Now, if we’re thinking about it, _maybe Gaia turned them into kids in an attempt to brainwash and teach them about her power. (In my headcanon, Gaia is a corrupted nymph who can’t live more than four-five centuries and she tries countless times to bribe people into doing this since she’s trying to save her power.)
Since turning them into kids wouldn’t be enough, she tries to erase their memories as well(The only thing they’d remember are their names.). While this works with Timber, Gloriosa manages to destroy one of her ingredients so her memories won’t get erased.
The two of them escape and are later adopted by a family who also owns Camp Everfree. The adults’ names are (in my headcanon) River Rose and Wild Charm and their kids are Treasured Grace and human Sunset Shimmer.(Yup?Yup!)
But, if you think the duo would have their happily ever after, then Gaia doesn’t think so. After the deaths of the couple and human Sunset, Gloriosa and Timber are left with their older sister who desperately tries to give them the best life she could. Since Timber doesn’t remember anything about his former life (and the fact that he and Gloriosa were a married couple) and sees Gloriosa only as a sister(and a best friend at the same time), she’s deeply hurt by this and totally obsessed with the mysteries of Everfree(while she does find the same cave Twilight, Sunset and Spike found, she doesn’t destroy it for the sake of the forest).
When she meets Sunset, she’s kind of shocked and confused, but by the end of the movie, she learns to let the past go and finally receives her happy ending!_
…And that’s all I can think of at the moment.:P XD What do you think?:) (About Timber and his memory loss, I decide to let it open to interpretation.)
Also Gloriosa Rose is Chrysalis. Also her brother is also Chrysalis.
Edited
That’s a good theory.
…Now I want to hear a funny “back in my day” rant from someone in this movie.
I totally agree with you.
I mean, I thought ’bout the same thing : After a fight with Timber and Mane 7, Gloriosa runs in the forest only to find an older Gaia Everfree, who gives her an offer. What is this offer about? Well, Gaia has to transfer her powers into Gloriosa’s body, as an attempt to save what remainded of her once infamous power. (Let’s just say that Gaia is some sort of corrupted nymph who can live only for a few centuries and needs to find a successor before her time runs out.)
Gloriosa is unsure given the fact that the same creature who needs her help is the same that killed her parents, but at the final agrees, thinking she could get revenge on Mane 7 for turning Timber against her and humiliating her. (You can find other theories and ideas of mine here: >>1218812; >>1219292 (deleted).)
I’m thinking those crystals in the cave that we saw in the clip (and that are covering gaia’s face when she’s evil) will turn out to be the “real” gaia and that’s how she possseses people.
It’s a Quarry. And my money’s still on Gloriosa not knowing how budgeting works/a lack of interest in people actually going to the camp since Celestia and Luna were kids going there.
I think I’ve heard of that sort of thing somewhere. Not exactly like the Sym-biotic Titan or those twins from Hellboy 2, but I may be thinking of an X-Man… Eh, it’ll come to me eventually. X3
They’re underfunded because of all the lawsuits from last time, natch.
Speaking more seriously, I do wonder why it’s about to close down - there seems to be nothing in regards to quality itself (it’s a very nice kooking camp indeed - I expected it to be a dump). Maybe some funky incident? Like, did Gaia/Gloriosa/Timber eat the souls of some children or something? We do have to remember Timber’s warning of the… what did he say it was? A gorge? Well, a <geographical feature> that’s off limits.
Maybe that’s where the dead bodies are.Or maybe it’s kids these days, with their danged smartphones, all staying indoors.
The “we’ll do whatever the hell you want no questions asked” policy might have something to do with that.
It would be interesting if Gaia was sent from Equestria a long time ago and that’s why ponies have more or less complete control of nature and the weather except for the Everfree forest.
