Perhaps even though he’s lived with a knowledge obsessed mare/librarian his whole life, Spike’s been kept in the dark about baby manufacturing by Twilight’s having kept those books away from him (with him technically being a dragon baby and all, her just trying to preserve his pure little soul). So him being actually confused is just as funny as him just teasing Twilight XD “Jeez Twilight, what the heck did you eat to poop out this thing”?

Oh, I meant it more as a joking thing. Like he knows the fundamentals, he’d have been around Twilight while she’s pregnant, all that. He just wants to give Twi a hard time about the screeching little alien that she popped out. Especially after Flurry Heart’s reputation.

The thing is… Spike grew up around books. Given a child’s natural curiosity, I’m pretty sure he knows where babies come from. Though, as the “Magical Lesbian Spawn” tag implies, it requires some fundamental differences from our understanding of mammalian reproduction.
