Best way to explain this: think how the G1 pony that Lauren Faust used as the inspiration for Twilight Sparkle was used for the design for her mother, with the same thing being done with Fluttershy’s mother.

Anyone one else willing to bet that Fluttershy’s mother is based off of Posey? While I can understand changing the eye colors so that it matches Zephyr Breeze’s (with Fluttershy’s dad getting the eyes instead). However, the darker shade of yellow and her interest in gardening definitely scream “Posey”.
