You’re assuming that RD can never change. That’s like saying it was out of character for RD to warm up to reading. I just figured that she had a similar change of heart since “Ponyville Confidential”.

Well, Dashie can be quite hot headed sometimes, but even after a long session, her muscles would be pretty cooked, needing time for her to cool off.
Besides girls, lots of things blindly labeled “girly” are something anyone can enjoy with an open mind and security in their masculinity. Like say, a show starring colorful horses of small stature.
Heck, that’s where I’d assumed she’d picked up the habit from. She went, enjoyed it, but doesn’t want to admit it. Just like when she picked up another hobby she professed to hate.
Most fans disregard some canon events, and some fans disregard many canon events, it seems to me. (Heaven knows there’s parts of a half-dozen episodes I’d prefer to ignore.) Granted, I don’t get the borderline hostility some people have shown to harmless character bits like this…
