She worked on the Journal of the Two Sisters and always tried to be closest to Faust’s view on the them. They both were alicorns before they were even considered to be selected to be the princesses. And that was established to be canon.
 
And Fwelin you have a point, but well, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a bit of consistency with the history and backgrounds. Otherwise this show would be just another Johnny Test in that “let’s write and throw literally anything in there and pass it off as plot” making it look all over the place.

Amy Keating just reaffirmed that both Luna and Celly were born alicorns, so this is an actual mistake in the dialogue.
 
The good thing is that it can easily be fixed by different ways, one being the one DoomPony said @DoomPony
