Nah, it’s not really a problem. I’m just an Egyptophile. X3 But that’s very civil, actually! Good on you!
Wow….Sorry I guess….just have been trained for so long to expect the sarcastic attitude from the internet….I guess I’ve been proven wrong then.
Ancient Egypt was the first true unitary nation-state, with a culture lasting nearly 4000 contiguous years almost unaltered. They were masters of engineering, architecture, mathematics (the base 12 system in use for everything from the imperial system of measurements to time itself dates to them!), agriculture (they invented beer), and much more.
They deserve respect.
Good point.
When your pool of marriageable people is severely limited by religion, politics and status, you tend to have that.
Well, the most-known examples were them and the Ptolemaics, who started to adopt the same custom after they started to rule over Egypt.
Seems to be true of a lot of current rulers, too. Or maybe they’re just stupid.
Yes.
isn’t that true of a lot of ancient rulers?
the more you know
^ This.
(exquisite pic, by the way…)
@Lawful Girly
Alright then.
Ahem. That is not a whip, it is a flail–a grain flail, that is, a symbolic attribute of Egyptian rulership along with the crook. Further, pharaohs were neither any better nor worse than comparable monarchs in other places throughout history; assuming you’re associating it with slave driving, know that chattel slavery en masse was not really a thing in Egypt. For instance, they did not build the pyramids with slave labor, but with well-paid guilds, essentially contracted labor unions (and certainly not by Jewish ones, since it’s unlikely there even were any Jews in Egypt at that time…).
Let my ponies go
Oppressed so hard they could not stand
Let my ponies go
Go down, Twilight,
Way down in Egypt’s land
Tell old Pharaoh,
“Let my ponies go!”
mirrorverselestia was a pharaoh too…
This somewhat offends me….
Don’t get me wrong, it looks amazing, but Celestia+Pharoh+Whatappearstobeawhip=Tyrantlestia imo
Rule from some golden tomb
Things will be different then
The sun will rise for me…
