Oh, I see what you are saying now. Yeah, I dig it. I still think her being replaced by a changeling seems like the most likely outcome, but maybe it’s too obvious. There has to be a twist somewhere. Alternate dimension Twilight? Zombie Twilight? Brain worms? Or the twist is that there is no twist, and you’re totally right.
Well, she went through many bloody wars, so like in real world her mental state went in many wrong directions.
Like why people who were very happy with their lives ended in commitment of suicide? Cuz something that were very important to them lost it’s value or completely gone.
So in my opinion she crossed the line and now, even if she recognise them, they are not important to her. (+ Spike addressed mane 5 not as friends, but as things or tools)

Yeah but she wouldn’t forget them. Even if she went evil and discarded her old notions of friendship, she would still remember the faces of the fabled Keys of Prophecy, right? They’re a big deal for her, in many ways.
