Put Starlight in front of that judge who just verbally annihilated OJ Simpson during his sentencing for that armed robbery. Except instead of 18 years, she’ll give Starlight the verbal beatdown of her life, describe right to her face why she is literal trash in every conciveable way imaginable, then send her straight to the electric chair.

In the show it is shown that Luna became Nightmare Moon out of choice and free will.  
Also those thousands years was for the first offense, not the second or the third time she nearly laid Equestria in ruins.
