Racist stuff happens in a winter climate and a storm is coming. Windigoes? Maybe.
 
Also, envious would be the proper term down there. Common linguistic mixup. Ironically Homer Simpson explained it well.

I’m guessing Rainbow Dash is the only reindeer with wings (no other pegasus-reindeer hybrid). Otherwise, it would be weird to make fun of her. Maybe that is the reason why they use Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon instead of the bullies from Rainbow Dash’s childhood.

I think the fact that there is a storybook about deers based on Dash and two random fillies is more alarming than their bullying her for flying.

She has something no deer has. Kids would get jealous and get angry. Kids are jerks like that and they aren’t known for always making the ‘smartest’ decisions.
 
Also, some more traditional deer might think she’s an abomination. Racism/speciesm is it’s own level of stupidity. {Not to mention deer are the elves of MLP, so they think they’re ‘perfect’. A mutation like this would break that level of perfection.}

In considering the “old” DT, the setup of shunning RD-reindeer for an uncanny ability is just in line with DT shunning the CMC for being blank flanks (which no one else had focused on).
