Season 8 Episode Discussion [Spoilers, possible leaks, rumours etc.]

Little girls love romance. And this is Pinkie’s older sister, and I’m sure plenty of little girls have older sisters with boyfriends.
 
Love, at least proper love, is a emotion that you should feel for someone after you’ve known them for a least a couple of months. It’s not a word that should be used lightly. And yes, though some might disagree, having sex with someone before then isn’t really that big a deal, and pretty damn common.

They like each other, so they’re trying out the whole relationship thing to see if they actually work as a couple. You can like someone, but there might still be obstacles to truly loving them.

It can’t have been that long, as Pinkie insinuates Maud’s only been busy for a week or two, and I can’t imagine Maud would have left it that long to tell her.

They just met at the rock show and thats it. If they knew eachother for long then Pinkie would have known sooner. Although they time skipped entire building of the school so who knows what happened in that time frame.

Might as well keep repeating 8 season in. Doesn’t really matter all that much

Twilight (and probably Starlight) probably just willed the school into being in a matter of minutes with magic.

She’d just learned that she didn’t know Maud as much as she thought she did. That her relationship may have been based on a lie. It’s possible her statement there may have been genuine, not a guilt trip.
 
Also, she didn’t burn bridges, she ran off specifically to ask her sisters to help her “get” mud so she can like him.

Also, I loved Starlight’s impromptu kite distraction to Mudbriar. Probably her best moment in the episode.

When Pinkie Pie ran off to her sisters, did anyone notice that Mudbriar said “see you later” instead of “good bye”? Remember that he always speaks precisely.

I have a theory about that but I didn’t want to say anything because it seemed too much f a META speculation.
 
The scene where Maud introduced Briar had her emphasize that she has a boyfriend. They kept going back and forth; boyfriend, a what?, boyfriend, a what? There’s a lot of effort and time allotted for just that scene on an episode that most likely had edited stuff out because they’re trying to fit something within 22 minutes. But if you look at the entire story as a whole, Mudbriar’s status as Maud’s bf is completely inconsequential to the narrative. Its almost as important as saying he’s left handed. Why? Because Maud could’ve introduced him as a “new friend” and the story would have ran the same way.
 
Now why would they do something like this, you ask? Well, here goes…
 

 
All the best moments in the episode were between Pinkie and Briar. We hardly saw any interaction between Maud and Briar because Maud was hardly in the episode herself. What do you think the fans perception would be if Mudbriar wasn’t “taken?” I know some people will connect the dots.

One of my favourite subtle lines honestly. He was expecting her to come back. Presumably because he knows she loves Maud.

I’m going to coin a term. “Mane Six Syndrome”: When characters in a children’s show mature past the point where they should reasonably be learning the lessons taught in a children’s show.

I think the intention was clearly to make them romantic since they appear again in Heart and Hoof Day.

I wonder what elements the Student Six will represent. Their own elements.

Not saying anything nor claiming what the intentions are. Just saying that Maud and Briar appearing in “the background” of the H&H day episode is also inconsequential to the story of that episode. Big Mac, Spike and Discord will have their adventure as normal regardless if they appeared in the background or not.

I know but not exactly my point. They had no speaking roles. Removing that scene doesn’t change the story. You could replace it with a jar of mayo on a white screen and everything stays the same.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think S8 is off to a very good start.

We surely didn’t reach any “AMAZING” episode like Perfect Pear so far, even with the leaked episodes. Although there are some decent ones.

As far as I’m concerned, only two episodes in the show’s entire run have reached that level, so hardly a damning statement.
