(Fortunately, they didn’t give her a voiced scene. So I have enough pessimism left in me to keep me alive.)

She’s back, so what? It’s just an ordinary background character like all the others that doesn’t put an impact in the story. I still had to watch the episode by now. Everyone has his opinion.  
Edit: Now I understand a little bit why this specific scene, but still, it could be any other pegasus. I’m not going to be angry or crying, I’ll just be neutral.

Derpy’s back!

Never have I been more happy to be wrong. Our favourite cockeyed Pegasus has returned after an interminably long absence (during which we were told she would never appear again ever - guess that was a lie too).
 
I’m withholding total squee-ness until Derpy appears in more episodes than this one - and there’s still a chance someone will decide to be a spiteful asshole and convince Hasbro to censor her again.
 
For now, though, Derpy is back and it is wonderful.

To my knowledge, Pinkiepony had nothing to do with Derpygate; she spearheaded DWM (and yes she’s taken credit for JJ ending it and not fighting the takedown). The one blamed for Derpygate is Yamino - though she wasn’t the one who actually instigated it; she was just its most vocal supporter.

What the hell are you talking about? Everywhere I’m seeing that fans are ecstatic. I’m sure /mlp/ isn’t, but they don’t count because they hate the show and everyone who doesn’t hate the show.

They kept her from appearing in any previous shows this season so we’d be surprised. I kinda think Megan ruined it a bit with her hint about muffins, though.

I liked that hint. It was the sort of playful teasing I like to see from show runners. A lot of people probably thought “oh yeah she’ll be in a background shot somewhere”.

I enjoyed the hint too because the wild speculation was really entertaining.
 
But could you just imagine the fans’ reactions if she hadn’t been hinted at? That would’ve been something else!

Come to think of it, maybe she tweeted that in order to avoid any shitstorms like the one that followed Derpy’s most controversial appearance.

She did a lot more than we’ve expected in this episode. In fact, she was somewhat part of the plot of the episode, and even made a scream on one scene.

I was grinning like a dolt the whole time.
 
I always imagined Derpy would come out in the background in this way, as a silent comic, well before the controversy in TLR. It just fits her.
 
I hope this was not the massive Fandom Fallout moment that has been hinted (though it could be that Rainbow Power thing).

Yup. But she will never talk anymore.
 
And not be referred as Derpy, just as “Ms. Hooves”, “Bubble-Pony”, “Muffins”, “Sis’”, and things like that.
