@Evowizard25
Well Chrysalis just wanted more power, the whole “feed my people” seems to be more of an afterthought. And it does seem that a flaw of hers is that she doesn’t think her plans all that well. Or at least have no backups, she clearly.
Sunset was just butthurt was the pace Celestia was teaching her and left in a “you’re holding me back I can learn more on my own”
in otherwords the Sith to Celestia’s Starfleet Captain
@Sjogre
It was more of a punishment thing. Having Sunset stay behind and fix all the damage she’s done.
Yeah, most of the damage would be fixed up in a few weeks and most likely the majority of the school will keep their distance or antagonize her.
As well as the fact that she won’t be able to get to Equestria for another 2 and a half years….The punishment seemed a little too severe, but eh, it would be worth it if they decide to do a spin off of Equestria girls, focusing on Sunset and her dealing with all this.
@Background Pony
She has a habit of leaving out when it comes to villains. (Look at Chrysalis. Her plan was so ‘made up on the spot’ and filled to the brim with holes, one wonders if she even wanted to conquer Canterlot in the first place.
Most likely not. I believe she was there for another reason, but things got mixed up.)
I actually pictured Celestia treating Sunset like Twilight. (Pretty much in a mother/daughter kind of relationship.)
Sunset must have suffered from what happened to Luna and grew envious. Wanting to show Celestia all she can be, but never matching her power. (I’m also guessing she knew of Nightmare Moon. Most likely Celestia was prepping Sunset, on the off chance that she was the Element of Magic.)
if the idw comic previews is any hint she nuked them
All the more reason to attempt to reconcile with her, then.
Some bridges were probably burned before she first crossed the portal. Hypothetically speaking.
She doesn’t want to see her old teacher? She doesn’t want to use magic again, something that she loved enough to study full time?
I kind of imagine she doesn’t really have anything to come back to.

No. “To learn friendship”, I think.
Most of them on Chrysalis, anyway.
It was fairly thorough. No major holes.

If only McCarthy had put even half that amount of thought into Sunset’s motivations and characterization.
