That’s fair. I most definitely agree that, regardless of what ponies can do with their magic, losing it would exhaust them. It isn’t exactly clear how the magic is distributed through ponies’ bodies, and how that effects different functions anyway. You could be right about how Pegasi fly.

I knew that would get referenced :p I was just saying to a friend next to me, I think the spell just exhausted the physical “energy” from the target as well; it did that for every single victim, even Discord, so I think it has to do with the fact that both magical and physical energy are energy, so the spell drains both. Look at how exhausted Twi was after.

But headcanon, not really enough to make a compelling argument one way or another. I just don’t like to invoke magic unless necessary, and if I don’t headcanon that above paragraph, then I’m lead to conclude there’s way too much magic in everything, even things that don’t really need it… Like pegasus flight :q

Mysterious Mare Do Well screencap. About, or more than halfway through the episode, Rainbow looks for trouble to solve, goes to the dam, then it breaks and this is her getting saved by Mare Do Well.

Can birds fly with waterlogged feathers, though? Geese and ducks have special oil coatings on their feathers to keep them from getting waterlogged. So the question really is: does it just impair them or completely stop them?

In Hurricane Fluttershy, ponies got out of the water, but had a chance to do a doggy shake and a minute to dry off before flying again.
