Just saying, the tangent took up two thirds… no… three fifths of this page of the comment section, not for the number of posts, but more as a result of the text written.

… walls of text intimidate me… so many words… shivers

Small tangents, a reference if you will, are fine if they are used to compare to the main topic. Its not like we talked much about Persona’s actual plot, just making a frame of reference of how complete or incomplete on Twilight not being part of the group necessitated, a point which we agreed to disagree on.

Better to have a tangent people can agree on then full drama in the comments.

As someone who’s actually played the first 2 persona games, I understand what your saying there, but you gotta understand there were a ton of understandable casualties between the PS1 to PS2 era. The technology was still working its way up, the internet was a smaller place, and they just couldn’t give the same amount of info and continuity that modern games could.

The early persona’s were good games, but they couldn’t generate the popularity enough to have continuity with the rest. So…they just kept the name ‘Persona’, and started anew with 3. THAT I can relate with you.

@chaos15
So this is an extremely personal issue for you huh? I apologize for instigating before, but I’ll be honest, I can’t really relate.

I didn’t say HOW to do it. My only suggestion, which I gave ages ago, was to introduce her through the 4 princesses group, which Sundown’s already done a few times, and go from there… but that’s as separated from the other 5 in this world as possible.

How would one even make her a vagabond without drastic liberties? Make her a vagabond hedge wizard…that responds more to authority then her own self interests? See? It doesn’t make any sense! Even Human Twilight has a better chance of filing that niche cause there’s a struggle between authority and self interests that causes repression. Pony Twilight gets spoiled so often by her nice friends and overbearing mentor that that repression never develops, so her default is always milquetoast. Twilight outright admitted that facing her own issues head-on with Moondancer was the hardest struggle she’s had.

Let the Canon reflect the headcanons I say. Maybe if episodes like Amending Fences were put in the show ages ago, she would be a more flexible character in fanworks. Twilight CAN evolve and be badass, but you have to take a ton of liberties and/or root out her biggest issues. At least before. I predict that Twilight will be a lot more interesting in season 6.

And to add to that I also hate Atlus’ constant neglect for Persona 1 and 2. It’s almost like they are the anti Valve. While Valve can’t count to 3 Atlus only starts counting from 3.

Seriously Atlus. Aren’t you forgetting something? ARGH! Shin from Trinity Soul has more official group art with the other protagonists than Yuya and Tatsuya. As in he actually has any. And Trinity Soul is not even canon. The only time they even get referenced are in games Atlus didn’t developed and even then is just a color swap for another character.

Ok unrelated rant over.

@CronoM
Yet freaking Fluttershy fits perfe… ok yeah I can actually see that one.

But seriously I really don’t see how you can’t fit Twilight in the whole thing when you yourself gave a freaking example of how to do it.

I like complete things and I hate when characters are left out from a set. Do you know how freaking hard it is to find Madoka Magica merchandise that actually has Kyoko on it? Megaman’s Final Smash is my least favorite Final Smash for not actually reping every Megaman series. And I hate Twitch Plays Pokemon Crystal because the mob decided to only use 5 pokemon to defeat Red and now Ace gets left out from almost every piece of fanart. Even artist who were already working on fanart decided to edit out Ace.

Sundown always does it so it bothers me. I still fave the art and follow his stuff but god freaking dammit it still bothers me. To deal with I make a snarky remark about the lack of Twilight.

(initiating appropriate whiny baby noises)

Seriously though, more then enough people enjoy sundown’s art for years despite the exaggerated issue of him not drawing ‘Twilight’ of all people. Only the most vocal whiners are even bothered enough to bitch about it. She wasn’t in the group prior, she’s not in the human group for years at a time, and she wasn’t even a character-driven character until Amending Fences injected some self-awareness into her.

(I guess one could argue that a Canterlot Wedding showed she was very protective of her big brother, but when she was more effected by Celestia’s rejection then her own brother by a long shot, it doesn’t create a good handle)

Plus, the setting of his work is the very anti-thesis of her character/lifestyle. Would you rather she just be drawn in ‘in body only’, while writing a completely different personality for her from scratch? That doesn’t sound reasonable…like, at all. Its just not worth the effort.

Me? I’d enjoy writing for Twilight in an interesting setting. She’s the poster-child of under-utilized potential.

But never in a vagabond setting, from scratch no less. God no. Twilight’s one of the most milquetoast characters in fiction I’ve seen in years.

@chaos15
I thought Sunset was the red ranger.

Twilight’s more like that agent from the first hellboy movie. A nice and helpful person and a good first-person view for the audience, but presenting nothing character-centric.

So in a way, she always IS the picture taker. Cause she’s the audience’s eyes and occasionally a living plot point.
