wanting to help someone is the opposite of accepting them. and most churches do turn away non-believers, after they find out you can’t be converted. and yes, I shouldn’t have brought it up, sorry.

well, there are good churches and bad churches, but no churches that admit nonbelievers, so my social interaction’s pretty much stymied either way.

There are good and bad churches, like most things in life. Saying they’re all the same because of one group is dangerous, though. Likely not physically, but still hamper your social interaction and judgement in future events.

yeah I just… don’t like to give the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure plenty of churches are running daycare services for young children, just because they’re charitable organizations. it’s just the ones that aren’t benevolent end up so much more successful because of the indoctrination, it’s… well, it’s not something I can prove. just something I worry about.
 
some people say a church is offering a safe and healthy activity for children to participate in, instead of trick-or-treating. I turn around and point out that it’s equally valid to say they’re spamming everyone’s doorstep with flyers basically saying, “if you don’t take your kids to our church this halloween, they might have a little unfortunate… accident.”

They are doing a fine job with their use of a church. They are pressuring any beliefs or anything. They’ve done a great job with it and I don’t think it even really should be talked about. People are only bringing it up because it’s there. Ha. Pastor Paul has been nice in the series, as have most ponies.
 
It is simply being used as a revenue for this event. :)
 
Also love the characterizations of characters in this series. Very smart, clever, and a lot of depth.

well, another way to describe it is it’s threatening the church’s control over people’s relationships. it makes logical sense that the church would discontinue singles night because they weren’t satisfied how much control it was giving them, but it’s still pretty dang evil.

Nice to see Pastor Paul again. I like how the artist is able to imply the existence of organized religion without playing politics with it.

Our Catholic church did away with “singles night” about 20 years ago. They say it breeds a bad view about relationships, but word on the street was that a lot of “singles” were actual married people looking to hook up with others for the week.

nah, not worried about the church in this pony comic. it just reminded me of the churches in real life, that host singles nights because the more kids their members have, the more kids the church can influence. children have no defenses, so it’s easier to bend their minds in service of the church. it’s the same reason churches operate schools, and daycares.
 
it also reminded me of how churches do stuff like that, because they want to use sex as a bargaining chip. singles nights… atheists need not apply. even among church members, as the sole arbiters of who gets laid, a church can get people to do almost anything…
 
I really hope adorkabletwilightandfriends just has the church be a friendly place that isn’t trying to derange children, whore out their members to attract converts, or fight the heathens by outbreeding them. disturbing military storylines are bad enough, without throwing mainstream religion into the mix.

So why exactly would Spike refuse to eat mini-sandwiches that may have been dropped on the floor? The kid’s eaten rotten baked goods he’s fished out of the trash before.
