Confession time. I still kind of ship him with Twilight, but I’ve honestly gotten to the point where I don’t care who he gets shipped with. I just want him to be something other than the fandom/franchise’s favorite bad joke. Ugh, remember back when Spike was the one guy who always got the short end of the stick? What the franchise is doing to Flash is starting to make me miss those days.

The main reason I was disappointed that Thorax turned out to be a guy wasn’t that it damaged my headcanon about Changelings being sexless “females” like bees or wasps– I can still justify that, dagnabbit– it’s that I really want to see more friendship interactions that aren’t guy-guy or girl-girl. Spike has had great luck with that in the show– even beyond the Mane Six– with Starlight and Ember, but The Girls hardly ever get a chance to pal around with guys who aren’t relatives, and they don’t get to do that at all in the movies. It’s frankly unrealistic, and more than a little off-message for this franchise; Flash should get to just, y’know, be a friend, without anyone on either side of the screen trying to read anything else into that.

Yeah, well, from where I’m sitting they’re not doing a very good job of it, which is just pitiful, because I KNOW this guy can be more than just the generic love interest or the dork that always gets brushed off by the main characters despite doing nothing inherently wrong. (exasperated sigh)

Hold on. There is more to the Flash love than just the fact that Vincent Tong voices him. If it was just Vincent Tong, than why haven’t Blueblood or Garble or even Joe gotten as much love as Flash has. Okay, Flash has also gotten a lot more hate than all of those characters, too, but that only further proves my point.

I ain’t even invested in Flash Sentry that much, but I love him anyway just because Vincent Tong is so awesome and the haters are so wack.

I don’t care much for Flash Sentry, but having met his VA in person twice (and he remembered me the second time around), Vincent Tong is one of the coolest guys ever.
