Description
Flurry approached her, holding out a hoof.
“Hi. You’re Cozy Glow, right?”
“No way!” The filly stared at her in awe. Flurry basked in the attention, holding her head up high and ruffling her wings.
After a long moment, Connie nudged her with a hoof, breaking her out of her trance.
“Um, I mean, I am!” She started, seemingly realizing she hadn’t answered Flurry’s question. “Your Highness.” She added at the end, after a moment of thought.
Flurry turned towards her mom, remembering the conversation they’d had earlier that day. Mom nodded encouragingly.
“Flurry’s okay!” She told Cozy Glow. “Friends don’t call each other by their titles.”
She didn’t exactly get that rule (The castle staff and the kids she played with at fancy events and her subjects in general all called her Princess Flurry Heart, and they were her friends, right?), but it didn’t matter. She just wanted someone new to play with, preferably someone fun who would play properly. Not whine and complain and hide away in the library like Polaris Star always did.
“That’s the surprise you said you had for me?” Cozy spun in place, staring up at the adults like she thought it might be some mistake. “My new friend is a princess?”
Flurry felt her cheeks heat up. All of a sudden, she was weirdly aware of her own breathing. The filly kept staring at her with wide, starry eyes. Flurry didn’t move. Her gaze was so intense, like Cozy was holding a pair of blinding spotlights in front of her face.
Aunt Connie made an amused noise.
“I suppose she is.” Connie said. “But she’s also a filly just like you. I don’t want you to think about her being royalty today, okay? She’s just our friend Cady’s daughter, over for a playdate. All we want you to do today is spend some time together to see if you get along. Both of you will be starting at Facet Elementary together, and it would be nice for the two of you to have a familiar face in the classroom then, wouldn’t it?”
Judging from the starry-eyed look on Cozy’s face, she definitely didn’t see Flurry as just another filly. Flurry kind of liked it, though…
Aunt Tempest smiled, gently shoving Cozy forward. “Just go on and play. I’m sure you’ll get along just fine.”
Flurry Heart and Cozy Glow meet for the very first time.
Both of them are maybe 6ish at the moment. Cozy just recently moved to the Crystal Empire after being adopted by Tempest and her wife. Knowing they would be starting school together, their parents introduced them and they hit it off. Flurry, who rarely got to play with anyone other than her brother, was excited to get a new friend, while Cozy was in awe of the real life actual princess.
