Who says it was stalled and isn’t just carefully guided so that it doesn’t wreck the environment, which already has to be managed by hoof?
Also, there’s that real Industrial Revolution was driven by newfound lack of something. Equestria has magic filling their lacking areas instead. For example, why invent new structural materials and shapes when you can already build a city resting on a cantilever sticking out of a mountain that doesn’t fall like it ought by physics?
Welding can also be used to kick-start Equestria’s stalled industrial revolution…
I’m not surprised to see Sunset studying applied sciences. She probably appreciates human inventions like air conditioning, electric light, and driving predators to extinction, and is eager to take them home with her…
