By praising the movie at nearly every turn except one? That’s bringing your mood down? Me saying the movie looks great will likely be a success and has impressive visuals but saying the ones in the trailer will likely be the highlights of the animation is too much? Please calm down.

True, sometimes there are moments in the trailer that never even appear in the movie itself, that’s a rare one but it does sometimes happen.

I can’t tell how many times I see this kind of things with movies, the trailer will show off the best effects and parts of the movie and then you’ll still be promised that the rest of the movie is just as good and has moments even better than the ones you were shown in the trailer, only to find out that no those parts in the trailer were definitely the highlights.
Actually, it’s a far more common practice for movie trailers to be made with unfinished scenes and/or scenes that were made specifically for the trailer and look good in it for that specific reason.

I think what’s being said is, movies with 3d animation are sometimes willing to show unfinished scenes in a trailer, if they feel it’s needed to convey the ‘summary intro plot’ for the trailer.
So they decided including the storm king air-ship arrival scene was essential for Pinkie dropping that ‘not the clouds i ordered’ line, Party Favor’s balloon animal ‘Brian, nooo!’, and the subsequent Grubber, Tempest, and minion invasion scenes.
I’d give other examples, but I’m not a movie trailer buff, so I dunno.

Yeah I saw that, it looked pretty good, I still think the rainboom and windmill scene looked better though.

If you want to add an image from offsite just paste the URL link and put ! on each side of it with no spaces. If you want to add one from the site itself you just put the image number with >> in front of it and a t or a p after it also with no spaces. the t and p control the size of the image.

I’m just wondering why you think those effects will be the best in the movie when Michel gange is capable of much more impressive effects than what was shown
My personal favorate effect was the thunder tornado descending on canterlot. It’s very breif but its beautiful (i dont know how to put images here)

I don’t think the movie will bomb, i was just saying that I don’t think they put all the best stuff in the trailer as the trailer was fine, but nothing amazing. I’m seeing it in theaters as well!

See, 3D animation isn’t just creating everything in one shot. There are many steps to the process.

Obviously you start with drawings in 2D to establish a style. Then you outline those drawings on a computer, translating them into 3D via added vectors and angles. Then there are many levels of depth and color that must be added to create a basic model, which is what a few of the 3D shots were in the trailer. Then you add the textures and overlays you want once you’ve established the movements.

The trailer was created with around a month still to go in production and 3D rendering is one of the final steps in production when it comes to non-computer animated films.

I doubt the movie will bomb, it looked pretty good overall and will probably be at the very least mildly successful. I’m looking forward to seeing it.

@The Smiling Pony
No but I also never said anything here was bad, I think a couple of you are misinterpreting my comment. I said this will probably be the best effects in the movie (aside from the windmill scene which was my personal favorite of the trailer) I didn’t say the others would be bad. They will probably be good but they might not live up to the ones shown in the trailer as often is the case with most movies nowadays.

Overall the movie looks fine but the moments shown in the trailer will probably be the most impressive visually, however that doesn’t even cover the story or the writing or the interactions with characters, those could end up being great and they weren’t even in the trailer but my comment was talking about the visuals, the grand events of the film.

How much you wanna bet those two effects will be the most impressive and the comparison will be more like they were 2 beach balls and everything else is the sand.

Not every movie is that way but you can’t help but take these statements with a grain of salt.
