Headcanon backstory:
He was born to a pear of highly successful wonderbolts and was pushed to succeed since a young age. He got compared to his older brother really often when he was a child. He became the captian of his high school’s sportsteam. Around that time his brother also ran away from home due to his parents discovering he was gay. His parents did influence his view on different sexualities and he grew up homophobic until he became best friends with Firefly, a pony he met during his wonderbolt training years, who turned out to be a lesbian.
Random Facts:
-Rainbow Dash used to have a huge crush on him in high school (just like many other ponies). Soarin knew, but considering they were a couple of grades younger than him he didn’t consider them as a date.
-When he met and started to get closer with Rainbow when they joined the wondebolts, he started taking a liking to them.

-Upon being kicked out of the wonderbolts and taking custody of his two foals he had to take up small jobs to sustain himself and his children. They have been evicted out of their homes two times out of not being able to pay rent.
