Yes but killing a storm trooper won’t protect the redshirt from soemthing like an earthquake or the stormtrooper’s corps somehow managing to kill him.
 
Anyway both will end up dead.

It is said that there was once a time when the redshirts’ only purpose was to die to advance the plot or allow for a dramatic “No!” or “Why?!”. They were basically the Storm Troopers of Star Trek.

Hmm… So Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, and Sweetie Belle are flag officers; Pinkie Pie and Nurse Redheart are medical corps; Rarity, Applejack, Cloudchaser, and Scootablue are engineering officers; Apple Bloom, Featherweight, and Rumble are engineering techs; Zecora, Noteworthy, Flitter, and Snips are science officers; and everyone else is tactical/security. I guess I can buy it. It doesn’t necessarily mean Snips is any good as a science officer.
