Luckily, things got better for her.
That’s when hell broke loose.
That’s the beginning of the movie. After that, she gets blackmailed into a participating in a sporting event she’s no good at, insulted by most of her teammates, more or less ignored when she does accomplish something, yelled at for accidentally endangering other students, and pressured/blackmailed again into misusing a device she barely understands.
Check the “midnight sparkle” tag if you want to see how well she takes all that.
This and she has missed out on one very important person (or pony) in her younger life. Celestia. Think about it. How would you feel when one of the most important persons (ponies) in the world would support you for 100% and you’re her protege student. That’s one heck of a confidence boost. Pony Twi might not have been interested in friendship, but she still learned to communicate and stand her ground. Human Twilight? Non of that, the poor girl.
That sucks for her even more.
She’s basically S1E1 Twilight, social skills wise, except she’s stuck in a school where almost everyone hates her because she outperforms them academically.
That kinda sucks. Feel sorta bad for her.
I know, I didn’t even say that.
She’s pathetic because she’s a doormat and hasn’t been blessed with a semi-charmed life like PonyTwi. Nothing says the Human/Pony counterparts live 100% identical lives.

And she’s kinda pathetic.So the Shadowbolts are part of the mirror universe and this Twilight isn’t the one we’ve seen in the past two movies?
Because this is the Twilight native to the mirror’s universe.
