That actually makes a lot of sense, especially since I’ve been familiar with and enjoyed Engrish for years now. I guess anime character names are no different from Engrish :3
Japanese people don’t generally speak English so that name probably doesn’t sound any weirder to them than McNeil does.
Like if someone doesn’t know Japanese, I’d bet that Midorikawa & Amegafuru would sound about the same weirdness to them namewise, right?
Though really I’m just guessing.

Eh, the Diamond Dogs are human, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to make Garble one too. {Having Spike as a dog always seemed like too silly of an idea to me.}
Of course, if we were looking for someone who fit Levy’s personality….Hmmm, maybe Coco Pommel? She’s skilled, small, and nice. {Don’t know enough of Indigo Zap to know if she places well with Levy.}
But wouldn’t Garble be a wild dog in the EqG verse? XD
