Canterlot is probably too far to teleport to, or else Twilight would teleport there instead of using the train all the time.
The only moment anypone was able to teleport that far was when Twilight was empowered with all the alicorn magic, and that was a one time thing.

Hell, it’s not like they’ve ever fought before. It’s not like they didn’t have a spat over a thousand years ago and tried to kill each other, resulting in the banishment of the younger to a celestial object in space. It’s not like the younger one kidnapped the older one after said-banishment and tried to plunge the land into an eternal darkness.
