Aside from this being a part of the “But I didn’t listen!” meme, there is a ranked battle type called Splat Zone. Think of it as a point capture match where you need to control a specific area and you get points while your team has it captured. Due to the way splatoon is played, it’s SUICIDE to stand IN the splat zone. The poster was told not to stand in the splat zone, “BUT HE DIDN’T LISTEN.” and his miiverse post is him admitting what a screwup he made.
