dude. there are tons of people, most of them kids, who watch the show but don’t follow all this fan stuff. this is their introduction to all the fun, untold stories going on behind the scenes.
 

Does this mean Octavia was divorced from her husband who kicked her out for being too neat and fastidious and to prevent her from killing herself, her best friend DJ Pon-3 invites her to be her roommate?
 
On November 13th, Octavia Melody was asked to remove herself from her place of residence. That request came from her husband. Deep down she knew he was right but she also knew that someday she would return to him. With nowhere else to go, she appeared at the home of her friend DJ Pon-3. Sometime earlier, DJ Pon-3’s husband had thrown her out, requesting that she never return. Can two divorced mares share a house without driving each other crazy?

Seriously, the amount of people freaking over this stuff is silly, it’s an episode that exist to screw around and celebrate the fandom, so it’s going to do that.

Consistency isn’t one of the show writers strong suits.
 
Personally while I do like seeing Vinyl and Octavia together in one scene, Octavia apparently living in Ponyville this whole time just doesn’t make much sense. I do support the idea of them being long distance friends though(They could meet up whenever one of Vinyl’s gigs takes her to Cantorlot).

I’m fairly certain that we’ve never seen Octavia outside of Canterlot, let alone hanging around in Ponyville. And now she apparently lived there the whole time? Way to keep that internal consistency, guys.

Buddy, people ship characters because they stand next to each other. “It’s open to interpretation/it’s whatever you want it to be, so let’s agree to disagree” has always been the best you can do when it comes to other people’s headcanons.

Some people seem to not realize that ‘roommates’ is not a synonym for ‘lesbians.’ Those in a romantic relationship are not the only ones who give each other sly, playful glances. Friends do that. Siblings do that. Hell, coworkers do that.

I don’t care for fandom stuff because of how serious people are about it. They never just enjoy what they like, they shove it in my face take it way too seriously and treat it like everyone is the same.  
I know, not everyone is like that, but the few that are ruin it, and even still, I just don’t care for a majority of fandom interpretations of BG ponies, they’re pretty dumb to me.

Reminds me of when this happened and Zemyx fangirls were using it to justify their headcanons. It’s disappointing to be frank.

i have seen people say this will ruin everything, in fact somebody here already did, i would rather have the staff give us the rare little nod to us and play off that than just ignore us, never give backgrounds characters any time or develop them you know?
 
there is a thousand headcanons for every single character, home and idea, every episode makes at least 1 canon, instead of moaning and bitching just have a laugh and go with it, we made derpy and it was the constant complaining that nearly killed her.
