Oh, that example looks awful to me; clickable items in menu bars should look like buttons, not inline links, or at least have some kind of divider between them.
@TexasUberAlles
You’re right; more things need to be placed in the header in this design (looking at the upload button, considering others). As for having more stuff in the header, I think that’s a no-can-do for mobile layouts but certainly for desktop. Makes me think back to LiroXIV’s design:
@liamwhite1
That does look better, actually; I still personally prefer useful buttons and links to be at the top than on the side– with a “return to top” button in one corner for mobile users who don’t have a [Home] key– but I know a lot of folks around here like the sidebar thing. Would it be difficult on that end to have a “Menu at the top / Menu on the left” toggle in user settings?
@LemonDrop
That is a different form of content.
When you go into the comments (why would you want to do that) it becomes spaced to the left and videos to the right.
It is better to have the image expanded from one corner to the other if we are viewing images like on here.
For video content I feel a center view is best as it is your center focus a video demands attention to see what is going on through the whole video.
Center Justify just replaces the problem of annoying negative space on the right with annoying negative space on both sides, and pairing it with the image info remaining Left Justified is, um… graceless. Top bar is also way too tiny. Overall it kinda looks like Google+ did before they tried to make it look like Facebook.
Ha, it looks like Twitter.
Pls nvr

Question though, how do I “Try it out”, like, how do I make a working userscript?
I have tampermonkey but I have no idea how it works.
that’s actually not half bad
I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT ALL
actually, does this look any better?
Still needs some work.
Remember that all caps are less readable.

Also you are in theater mode for your screenshot default is left aligned
I am too tired to post sense.
I feel like it needs at least two things to be more “full”:
Perhaps I’ll also compact and center the header bar as well to make it GitHub-y.

We tried this and people hated it so we quickly reverted it.
If you want to try it out…
