I thought Bloom & Gloom was great all the way through,
and I was thoroughly entertained by the Discord episode.
the ep had enough “warm fuzzies”apart from the ending anyway: gilda’s flashback to junior speedsters camp, Her making amends with rainbow dash and showing her softer, kinder side. (besides i’m pretty sure you’ll see how Griffonstone flourished later on in the series anyways)
I watch this show for the warm fuzzies, not realism. I can’t get warm fuzzies from what happens offscreen :I
maybe the writers thought this to be a bit too cliche and tried something a bit less common: something a bit more realistic.
Basically what will most likely happen off-screen is that Gilda’s friend will tell another griffon about the cakes and that other griffon will tell yet another griffon etc. etc. and before ya know it, the griffons of Griffonstone will have something uniting them: their love for something that brings them ALL joy for once.
Compromise; have them all investigating, being super suspicious and greedy, and have gilda respond by giving everyone a free scone. Most of them would just go away being greedy, but it would be implied that if nothing else they tasted good enough that she’d at least get paying customers and whatnot if not actual friendly associations.
Unfortunately, it would be unrealistic for an entire town of selfish jerks to reform in just a day. I realize it’s kind of pointless to look for realism in a show about magical talking ponies, but still.
But this moment convinced me otherwise :’)
Well yeah, but… instead of Gilda getting one other griffon to try her scones, they could have made it so every griffon in town smelled them, came to see what’s going on, and mass cheering up.
Then group hugs and smiles abound, followed by rolling up their sleeves and starting to clean up their town.
Rome wasn’t built in a day…
and Griffonstone will probably not be rebuilt in one too
I just wished they showed more immediate improvement to Griffonstone before they left.
