>tfw you’re old enough to remember the sneakernet and 16kb dialup modems
I remember the first time I saw a download zip by at 320k a second. I think the last iterations of dial-up managed that with compression and other tricks.

I didn’t get unlimited broadband until 2009, and had to give it up in 2012 because fuck Telstraclear.
I didn’t get Internet until 2007. But when I did, it was broadband with no data cap.
I didn’t get broadband until I moved to Dunedin for Uni in 2006, and even then, I only got 1Gb a month.
Fair enough. Btw yes, I am white, but I’m English. :)
In 2005, I had AOL broadband (256kbps), for about £15/month. Actually we got online in 1998, with a brand-new company called Freeserve (they went bust looooooong ago, lol). We had standard 56k dial-up, on a rate of 1p/minute. Lol. :PPP
(My friends had a similar plan…they rang up a bill of £300 in their first month online! They never did that again. That basically meant they were online the equivalent of 21 days nonstop out of that whole month).
(Shots Fired!)
Still an idiot. Should have just said “not all of us have that kind of disposable income/live in the right part of the world.”
Meh, I have some friends that are white but had not so good internet connections back then.
It’s really a matter of where you are, what company you have, and what kind of plan you pay for.
Not all of us are white. (If you are white, pretend I said born from immigrants… If you’re not American… XD )
Really? I had a pretty good broadband connection even in 2005.
This reminds me more of life online back in 1995. :)
badgood ole days, when the internet was exclusively for thieves and perverts, mostly because they were the only ones desperate enough to put up with the average 100MB download being beyond unreasonably long.Same here!
