Also take in to note that the Crystal Heart was created by a dragon and dragon’s aren’t the most caring of creatures. The Crystal Ponies probably didn’t know about this particular part of the crystal’s nature.

Well, she probably planned to, but Sombra just ran off without her know how.
 
It could be possible that, given how secure the Empire is, Amore herself grew to such thoughts that love could save anyone and wasn’t a hindrance. Perhaps she didn’t know what to do, but was still scared for Sombra. Yes, she put it off and that hurt Sombra, but I honestly believe she didn’t know how to help him.
 
Again, she seemed to have sent her best doctors to aid in his recovery as well.

Or she could have gone the Hellboy route, and told him the deal from day one, confronting the Darkness head on with him.

The only things she could have really done were kill/banish him. Given her desposition and attitude, which reminds me of Celestia/Palutena, that wouldn’t come to mind. So, most likely she tried to cure him through other means, given all those doctors, and hoping friendship and love would aid in some way. A futile gesture, but that’s all she could do really.

So the Crystal Empire is a civilization centered around a Weapon of Mass Destruction, one which many worship?
 
Sounds like a certain Wasteland town I know.

It is called the Crystal Mirror after all. But it probably only looks that way because the animators set Equestria Girls’ opening in the Crystal Empire.
 
However it’s not impossible for that to be true in-universe, the empire did exist when the mirrors were made by Starswirl.

In other order of things, I sure hope some good artist humanizes Amore… wearing exactly what she is wearing here.

The conflict when he was stealing the heart, her words implied that he could have left it, and gone with her to perchance to safe him before the next Faire. But exactly how, beyond appealing to what good he had, wasn’t clear at all. But I don’t get the feeling she wanted to drive him away - if she knew that Sombra would go evil from the first encounter , she could have easily set that in motion before.
 
What little we get of dialog, Amore does seem to a lack the idea of having Plan B’s, which when you are playing a Batman gambit, you’d better have.

I think she was just hoping Sombra would leave the empire one day.
 
She can’t make him immune to the Heart.  
She can’t tell him the truth at the start, that would mess him up. He was just a kid at that point.
 
It seems to me that Amore was not in a position to do all that much. What would you have her do?

It’s more to the point she knew X years prior, and did nothing. Taking Sombra under her proverbial wing, trying to teach him to be good (instead of letting that rest on Radiant Hope) would have been better than going “Okay, I’ve only got one change to turn you now”

Yup. She offered Sombra a chance to drop his plan, leave the empire and not be vaporized by the Crystal Heart, but he decided to fulfill his evil purpose instead.
 
She should have destroyed him like the rest of the umbrum, but she thought he could be saved. Foolish indeed.

Just look at her face. You can almost feel how she is just laughing at little Sombra suffering…demonic spawn or not, he was still kid.
 
That horse got what she deserved.

Amore may look nice, but this story makes her a fool. Not as poor writing, but that she made a terrible mistake.
