Great story, too, if you get the right techs–and the ultimate victory is very uplifting.
Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri. Civ in space, basically. Very good characterization of the leaders, cool setting, nice gameplay.

Beyond Earth? Its wildly different. Imagine if barbarians were constantly a very serious threat. And the tech web may sound neat but it means there’s absolutely no way to consistently beat out the competition to wonders, and its super easy to miss learning basic required techs. And no matter what you do you’re always pissing off the other factions because they never share your ideological paths.

Religion, yes, but in a very different way. Not tourism. The only way to play it, really, is with the Beyond the Sword expansion in my opinion, especially with the random events. My real complaint, though, is that IV is (ironically, despite not being designed for Steam) infinitely more moddable.
As someone who is currently enjoying Civ 5 quite a bit, what are the differences in Civ 4? Do they have Tourism and Religion or other basically pointless things?
They’ve never met. The first time we saw human Twilight, she was in some manner of science bunker, complete with seismograph and conspiracy board.
As for how she could know about Equestria, well, that’s what probes are for. (Or you could suspend your disbelief for the sake of the picture. No one’s wondering when she cut her feet off and replaced them with stabby bits.)
And that’s why she shouldn’t even think about doing something that could make them angry, even if they look like teenage girls
