Man, I love Golden Sun (yes, even Dark Dawn, despite its flaws). I’d love to see a new one eventually.
Hell, I’d like to see more Sveta, period. Best female character in the entire franchise. Maybe best character period.
-Lumino
That too.
And you’d also probably need to make new designs for the monsters and other bosses, ponified Djinn, new versions of the Summons…
Question is which pony would be in place of each of the 8 heroes and 5 villains from the first 2 games? That right there would make it rather difficult. not to mention redoing all the animations for said characters.
And you have access to your basic Utility Psynergies no matter which class you’re in (and Growth is accessible to the Squire class; I never got why you had to switch to the Brute class to use a Venus-based Utility Psynergy in the first two games), so that’s one thing Dark Dawn improved on. But there are still quite a few issues with it.
Dark Dawn’s pretty good. Makes for good replay value if you wish to grab every last Djinni and smite all in your path.
That’s the entire story for that summon. You are on your last legs, then, when you give up all hope, the last missile from Daedalus, who you summoned ages ago and completely forgot you did so comes down and wipes the floor for you.
It’s epic personified.
Actually for Diamond Berg / Liquifier / Odyssey and simmilar “Unique” spells all you need is a set of djinns that are the matching element of the character.
@Sgtnolisten
I wanna love Dark Dawn…i really do…but it just Sequel-Bait’s SOOO HARD
@Sgtnolisten
Colosso is pretty good, too bad they watered it down a bit in the second game (no inbetween-fights)
@Jarkes
Saturos at Mercury is bloody easy once you notice that Mia is literally a goddess during that one fight thanks to the light of the Mercury Star
@Sgtnolisten
I actually got lucky once, all but Garret was down during the final phase, then out of nowhere came the super missile of that golem-thing summon
@Nightwing
Cruel Ruin …shudders in terror bad…baaaad memories
HELL -YAY-ING YES!
That name shall forever be burned into my mind….
goes through a ptsd memory sequence
That was the name of the attack I was trying to remember in my last post thanks Sgtnolisten
Oh Doom dragon for the freaking win in that fight. In fact, I don’t think I ever beat him till I transferred everything from my GS game and then went to beat Dullahan (which was a fuckton harder than even the double D man himself).
I always felt myself just about to cry when I saw the words “Cruel Ruin” on his attack turn.
Doom dragon definitely mainly because it has djinn storm like you said plus a massive energy blast that hits ever member of your team which it likes to spam every other turn when it’s down to 1 head. Combine that with it’s previous ability and you’ll be thankful for my next tip:save your mist potions for this fight plain and simple.
Well, I’ve pretty much had the entire plot of both games spoiled for me (and not because of Dark Dawn; I’ve always been utterly incapable of avoiding spoilers)… But I will still beat the first game first just for the sake of continuity.
…So which final boss is harder? Fusion Dragon, or Doom Dragon? I know Fusion Dragon’s main difficulty is from just having fought Saturos and Menardi together (they actually fuse together INTO the Fusion Dragon) and no chance to heal or save in between, and Doom Dragon has Djinn Storm in its final form…
And I would beat the first game too beforehand. That way things will make more sense.
Yes you can
Wait, so, hypothetically, if I wanted to go ahead and start on Lost Age despite not having beaten the first game yet, I could use one of those codes and get all the Djinn from the first game transferred anyway?
…Cool. Though I’m probably still going to go ahead and beat the first game first…
Just tested one of the gold ones and it does work btw
Here’s a website with all the codes hope it helps
Dang… I use VisualBoyAdvance…
>…Incidentally, are emulator files able to emulate Link Cable connections? Because that would make the password transfer thing easier…
That’s up to the emulator in question. VisualBoyAdvance’s linking function is known to not work so great. NO$GBA may work – multiplayer on one system seems to be advertised – but I don’t use NO$GBA, so I can’t vouch personally.
Last time I played my emulator file, I got to Altmiller Cave, the area right before the Colosso tournament, and got about halfway through it. I’ll probably have to look up a guide to remember the solution to the puzzle though. The Golden Sun Wiki has pretty comprehensive walkthroughs for all areas in the games, and I’ve been using that for stuff like picking up Djinn or figuring out which equipment is the best to use.
Also, on the emulator file in question, I actually managed to beat Saturos at Mercury Lighthouse on my first try, but it sure wasn’t easy. After that I got all the way through Mogall Forest, beating the Killer Ape, and then didn’t open the file back up for literally an entire year. And it’s actually been about five months since I last opened it as well. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to get back to it soon. (I also did the trick to go through the first few rooms of Crossbone Isle early)
…Incidentally, are emulator files able to emulate Link Cable connections? Because that would make the password transfer thing easier…
@Sgtnolisten
I thought Crystallux, the only new Summon in Dark Dawn, was pretty cool (mainly because it canonized that bizarre chandelier dragon from an early commercial for the first game)… But yeah, some of the new Summon sequences were a little too over the top. While the new version of Catastrophe was still pretty cool, it feels like they were like, “We must make THIS one in particular more awesome than it already was” and tried a little too hard, since part of what made the original Catastrophe so awesome was the fact that it was in a relatively early GBA game.
But I suppose you have a point about the normal boss theme.
Also, despite Dullahan having even more dangerous abilities in Dark Dawn, he’s actually much easier to Summon-rush before he has the chance to use any of those or the abilities he already had in Lost Age, like Djinn Storm. Though Star Magician managed to be even harder than he already was, and the Ancient Devil is a pain (as well as Otka Island itself). The Ogre Titans are kind of lame, though.
