My brother’s becoming something on an expert on ecology, and according to him, it’s not the fruit bats we should be culling: it’s the deer, bison, and feral cats. Also, from what I’ve read on Wikipedia, fruit bats only go after farmer’s crops after they’ve exhausted other resources, and only a few species are vectors for deadly diseases. Plus, they give back to their ecosystems through seed dispersal and pollination.
Ugh…that was so cringe worthy…
I hate that episode because it represents the actual arguments Animal Rights activists use against the culling of fruit bats in Australia accurately and then tries to pass them off as a logical course of action.
He really hates the bats episode that’s all you need to know

Oh, yeah, Canadians can stand up for themselves and actually understand the ecological effects of an invasive species.
