Maybe Sun and Moon and seasonal climate are all magical substitutes because the Equestria planet actually orbits a cold distant star (which is also why the seasons and years don’t mesh properly).

likrely over thinking but that can be fun.
 
thinking in this universe every planet has its own sun and moon, smaller than the actual planet but functioning for the same reasons.

Y’know it’s weird. Like, we know that space exists in this universe, but Celestia and Luna still “raise the sun and moon”. Do they both orbit the planet? Who controls them on the other side? Am I over-thinking this?
