For the last time people, alicorns are NOT deities. They’re just ponies like everyone else. If you think the comics are canon, then you really have to admit this, because Good King Sombra is just a unicorn, and has lived just about as long as Celestia and still looks just the same as he ever did.

If such pony creation myths existed I’m fairly certain it would go like this:

and of course this

The problem here is that our terminology is based on a history of a concept of a god/gods.

For argument’s sake, let’s assume the pony cultures do not have a concept of a god. Therefore, they do not have the concept of a demigod, and if presented with a (might-based) one, might say “Oh, you mean like a princess?” or “like an alicorn?”

Historically, gods are a way of eplaining what we don’t know. Back before we knew about electricity, a thunder god, etc. When stuff worked and we didn’t know why, it got attributed to intelligences and powers like nature spirits and gods.

For the ponies, it’s a bit weird. The Sun moves because Celestia moves it. This is reminiscient of our historical “sun god” explanation. The difference is, that for the ponies, this is verifiable. It’s a true belief, an instance of knowledge. Celestia is an immortal creature (immortality is neither a required nor unique ability of gods) with the (nearly) unique ability of lifting the sun without a dedicated team of unicorns. Think really-real Superman, not Yahweh.

I’d wager they have their own unverified beliefs, their creation myths and such, as well. A pony-shaped god or gods, who created the world and all its inhabitants, etc. Powerful characters in there would be relatable to our own gods. Or maybe Faust always existed, created everything, explained it to Celestia and Luna in sufficient detail, and they really have no concept of a god like ours, and thus, no concept of atheism. (“Not believeing in what doesn’t exist” doesn’t warrant a term.)

Isn’t there a name for individuals who are about as powerful as a god yet is as vulnerable as another mortal?

@TheBrianJ
Alicorns are not gods and even if they were, it wouldn’t change really anything. They just wouldn’t be atheists towards these particular gods because these gods really do exist.
TheBrianJ

It would be difficult to be an atheist in Equestria when god is not only a living pony, but could fly to your house and punch you if you insulted her.
