Well, actually, I was referring to the comment by @cheezedoodle that “anything” (their word) would be better than not having a romantic relationship for one of the mane 6 (or, again using their words, “the mane six (aside from Rarity) being asexual nuns”). There hasn’t been enough development of either Flash Sentry or of any potential relationship between either one and Twilight for me to have that strong a reaction against it. Granted, I’m not exactly a fan of what we’ve been given so far, but I don’t think it’s a lost cause either.

And yes, this is a cute picture, and as a bonus it works nicely as a friendshipping picture as well.

Oh pshaw, you’re somewhat overreacting. We don’t really know how Flash and Twilight would work out from the little we’ve seen of them, Equestria Girls and the whole high school setting is quite a tone change to parse from such that all we really have is the potential for a relationship and a character.

Now I’ll admit, the love for Flash and this ship is pretty much just speculating on that potential in the most optimistic way, knowing nothing except for a few loose and unrefined character traits, but I find it’s more fun to lean toward the optimistic side. You end up with nice pictures like this that way, and it’s fun to imagine the well-liked Twilight having a relationship and growing up.

Also, this is a nice and well-done picture that evokes the thought of Twilight and someone she cares for flying carefree through the sky, so that’s nice.

…No.

I would, quite frankly, rather have them be “asexual nuns” than have a cliche-ridden, character-eroding, poorly-written romantic storyline for any of them. (Twilight, anyone?)

If the writers can come up with a romantic storyline that builds up the characters and portrays relationships in a realistic-yet-optimistic light, yeah, that I can go for. Personally, I think the odds are against it, but DHX does have talented writers working on the show, so who knows?
