@Beau Skunky
Man, I could barely even remember the old cartoons when I gave the first Bay movie a chance. I managed to find myself disgusted without any thought given to the old stuff.
@chaos15
I’m fine with that, I’m just pointing out to everyone not to automatically hate anything that’s “new,” or a new canon/reboot, and such. Some fans do have that logic as I pointed out.
@Beau Skunky @Beau Skunky
The thing is I’m not judging Bay movies because of nostalgia. (And I really don’t like the old cartoon TMNT.) I just don’t like Bayformers even as their own stand alone thing.
@Millennial Dan
My main/only real gripe about the first one personally was I felt it focused to much on the human characters for most of the movie. The second remedied that a bit, but some things (like the comic-relief twins) were a bit cringe-worthy. I hear they cut down on the potty humor for the third after fans complained about it though. So at least they listen to fan-critiques sometimes.
@chaos15
I haven’t seen that movie sense I was very very little, (not even sure if I ever saw it really) so I don’t remember it to well, but while I’m sure it’s a better movie, (I even admit the Bayformers could be “better) I still try not to let “rose-colored nostalgia goggles” dictate my opinions on everything, and while some old stuff may be better then the new, I advice people to take off their nostalgia-goggles occasionally.
Like those people who insist the old ’80s/‘90s TMNT cartoon was better then the newer ones, or that Sonic 1 is the “only” good Sonic game, and such.
Heck, I’ve seen some G1 MLP fans who refuse to watch MLP:FiM, or give it a chance out of “nostalgia,” and bash the new Lauren Faust art style/redesigns, and such to. Some even hated it after seeing it, and not liking the changes, or modernizations they did.
@Beau Skunky
I have found myself hating every Transformer Bay Movie that isn’t the first one (which is just ok). Especially the second. Few movies make me go on an angry rants like that one. (Men in Black 2 being another one)
@Beau Skunky
I think even you admitted there’s little quality to be found in the two you have seen. They’re a guilty pleasure at best, even to those who enjoyed them.
Seems like every single one has been a bait-and-switch that promised a movie full of giant robots fighting each other, only to deliver dreary dramas with insulting characterization and insipid dialogue.
@chaos15
To be fair, the “alien” thing might’ve just been a rumor/misunderstanding. Even a recent trailer for the TMNT movie took a shot at the “turtles are now aliens” rumors.
Also, Michael Bay is barely even involved in the TMNT movie, and isn’t even directing, or writing it.
I kinda wish people would judge movies on their own marit rather then on who is directing/making them. Michael Bay has issues sometimes, I admit, but I actually have enjoyed some of his movies, even the Transformers movies, (Haven’t seen the third or fourth yet though) regardless of their problems.
@NightmareStare
1: The image above thoroughly contradicts that.
2: You mean there were real characters in these films?
3: Ah yes, action. Doubtless the presence of explosions and inexplicable sci-fi technology is enough to make up for a list of failings long enough to give Twilight a headache.
4: Wat.
The hell kind of transformation is that supposed to be? It’s just a swirly thing. Where’s the moving, interlocking parts? That rifle should at least have some rainbows on it.
Look, people are entitled to like the Transformers movies. People are entitled to dislike the Transformers movies. It might come as a surprise to some of you, but people are allowed to have opinions that are different from your’s. And those opinions are valid. Crazy, I know, but it is as simple as that.
@Millennial Dan
The CGI is FANTASTIC
The characters are diverse
The action is something NO MLP show can ever pull off
The quality is very high
AND every minute is pure epicness!
@NightmareStare
Not that there’s much sense in arguing someone who is evidently parodying a raving fanboy, but assuming for a moment that you’re serious, I highly doubt you could give many good reasons for such an opinion.
@NightmareStare
Yes because as we all freaking know Pearl Harbor was super accurate. Oh yes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles being aliens is not as stupid choice. Also building up a villain the entire freaking movie just to have Optimus beat him in under a minute is not super anti-climatic.
