Yes I know I’m necroing, but I’m curious if you ever found out that the Wii U very much is not hack proof? There’s plenty of hacks for the Smash 4 game, but it’s near irrelevant now that Smash 5 has been teased.

Melee was fast and had less bullshit (no tripping or Metaknight)

I love both games, as they are awesome fighting games and just some of Nintendo’s overall best. (I’m also excited for the new Wii U game, which btw, is it Winter yet? :P)
 
If I had to pick a side though, I’m going to go with Melee. While Brawl has The Subspace Emissary and a gazillion amusing hacks, Melee was the game that introduced me to the crossover franchise with easy-to-play controls, a wide assortment of Nintendo’s best (And maybe a couple of their worst.) characters, beautiful graphics that still hold up to this very day, nostalgia overload, the BEST GAMING SCORE EVER (IMO) and hours upon hours of entertaining action that I’ll never get tired of. In my own personal opinion, Super Smash Bros. Melee sets the bar as not only one of the best Nintendo games ever made, not only one of the best fighting games ever made, but one of the overall best games ever made.

I liked Melee the most. Don’t get me wrong, Brawl was awesome, but it kind of lacked compared to Melee.

I wouldn’t hold the competitive scene against Melee, really. There isn’t a game in existence that “stop having fun guy” can’t ruin.

All are great, but Brawl is my favorite because of the stage builder and the available hacking tools.
 
If 3DS is anything to go by, Wii U will be very hack-proof, and thus Smash 4 will never be as good as my siblings and I have already made Brawl.

Only third quarter of 2014 for 3DS and fourth quarter of 2014 for WiiU.

Melee was fun, but it was ruined by hardcore competitive assholes who insisted on banning 90% of the content from the game just to prove to everyone else how professional and competitive and cool they were.
 
Brawl had its share of technical missteps, but on the whole it was a lot more fun than Melee was.

Works better when you have more than 3 optionss

Until the next one comes out and I play it.

I like playing the first release of a video game franchise so i can see how much the franchise evolved since.
