The only other pony that has slapped Spike is Twilight (Hurricane Fluttershy), and we know how close those two are. That AJ is the one to do it is a sign that she acts more familiar with Spike that the other five.
 
Also none of this is new. AJ yacked RD’s tail before and Rarity slapped Pinkie with a newspaper this season.

A simple slap isn’t abuse, especially if it’s done when the person deserved one.
 
And let’s not forget that Spike’s a dragon. Needles do nothing, so a simple slap isn’t going to do much.

In contrary, her of all ponies slapping Spike is a sign of close relationship and care. You see, when a baby dragon strays from the right path, a kind mare needs the courage to raise her hoof and correct him, like a caring mother or sister figure.
 
If you look closely she doesn’t put much force behind the hit. If you’ve played Tales of Symphonia you might remember how Genis always got slapped by his sister when he said something wrong. She actually seemed to hit him quite hard, but even so the bond between them is always strong. Applejack and Spike have this kind of bond, as the scene demonstrated.

Meghan really is a Spike hater. I want them to change this scene.The only character that care for Spike,and they made her slap him? why? why do they hate him?
