Looks like clever 2D tweening to me. Notice that there’s just 2 different pie animations copy-pasted, with some symbol mirroring & rotation added to vary them a bit. 3D-modeling & texturing an object like that would actually take more work, especially with that ridged outer crust.
 
3D doesn’t get used as often in this show as a lot of people seem to think. They’ve gotten pretty good in recent seasons at integrating various 2D Flash tricks into their animation work to give a good sense of depth/rotation when desired.
