The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Rational self-interest is one thing, but that’s a rather mild concept compared to what Rand said. She was just nuts. Much like Freud, she brought interest to something and ended up doing good despite the fact that she was out of her mind.

@Sparrow

Ayn Rand, when asked in an interview (which you can find on youtube) whether or not the poor or sick or disabled deserved love and compassion her reply was “They certainly don’t deserve it.”

She was a rather confused and cruel woman (and in many cases later in her life was quite the hypocrite) but it can’t be denied the fact that we still discuss her works and talk about her shows something to her prowess.

I dislike her philosophy and I’m somewhat torn on her writing style. In some cases it’s quite good but she writes her characters in a very unrealistic way. They speak and interact less as “people” and more as straw men to either show unrealistic levels of what she considers to be “virtue” or “weakness.”

An interest figure/writer to dissect.

Ayn Rand is so weird, though.
She’s like a less depressing version of Nietzsche.
Actually, Fluttershy reading either authors would be hilarious.
