It still could be made to work if the manner in which Bluebelle was obnoxious was also changed. For example, Elusive being a perfect gentleman and Bluebelle responding mostly with complaints and insults while still demanding he wait on her hand and foot… Er… That expression doesn’t really ponify well, does it?

This scene wouldn’t work as genderbend, since Rarity’s high class expectation would be “The male must act like a gentleman” like paying, pulling out chair, open door for the lady. So Elusive complaining about who’s paying just doesn’t work, and it certainly does not fit their character.

You know, only one rule in chivalry involves women at all. The rest is mostly just combat etiquette. So if he wanted, Elusive could quite easily challenge the she-devil to a duel to prove chivalry is still quite alive. Of course, she’d probably die in the process, but she’s technically Blueblood, so who cares.
