I’m rather fearful for the civilians in Afghanistan. But while the American army makes those fears reality, the Russian army is at least in comparison peaceful.
@SFaccountant
This and this. I say if Crimea wants to join Russia, letum’. Russia’s whole “invasion” was pretty shady, though. And I’m rather fearful for the Tartars.
That doesn’t excuse deploying soldiers in another country and then denying they’re yours. And the propaganda drive is a joke. How many Russians in Crimea have been killed or even threatened by the so-called nationalist radicals that Russia is “defending” them from?
At least,we’re not jumping at each other throats discussing this issue.We merely talk about the actuality here.
Petty much this. Also we’re talking about politics on a pony related website. Uhm..oh well?
Also, absolutely no consideration has been given to the nearly 40% of Crimea’s population that isn’t Russian. Especially the Tatars, who rightly fear being overrun and deported again. The dude currently in charge of Crimea’s local administration is a complete racist nutcase.
At this point, Putin rolling tanks into Donetsk and Kharkhiv is a virtual certainty, but that’s even less legitimate than his escapade in Crimea, since those areas (despite ethnicity) have not been legally considered part of Russia for nearly a century.
By the way, the Russian line on the current leadership in Kiev - that they’re a bunch of Nazis who seized power in a coup - isn’t exactly correct. Yanukovich was forced from power due to his own party (who still hold the majority in the Ukrainian parliament, btw) turning on him and doing what amounted to a snap impeachment. That in itself was also done too hastily, but as far as I can tell was not illegal except in Putin’s fevered mind.
Kiev’s interim administration are no angels, but - aside from that stupid move to demote Russian from co-official language (which was correctly abandoned) - they look far better right now than Putin, who may as well be a fascist redux of Stalin at this point.
It was only in 1954 that Crimea became part of Ukraine.
Oh, yes. Fear us. We’ve already started doing evil dances every morning, while singing the evil Russian anthem. We’re wearing evil clothes and eating evil food. We’re making evil jokes and evil..ly … laugh at them! Boo!
I’m not Russian,but i think i heard that Crimea had a majority of russian-speaking people that feel more close to Russia than Ukraine,thus why the “soft invasion” is welcomed with open arms by the majority of the population.That dont make Poutine tactic less shady,granted.
It’s a relief. It makes it easier to overlook our own masters evil ways and thus makes the world more understandable.
No, MYCane.
