It actually isn’t out of print, believe it or not. You can still pick the special edition DVD up on their store. They even released a Blu-Ray set with all 3 volumes recently.

…Where can I find the series? I remember Nintendo Power mentioning a DVD release of it many years ago (either in 2007 or 2008), but that DVD release is probably long out of print.
 
And speaking of video game fan films/fan series that Nintendo Power once covered, I remembered them mentioning a fan film adaptation of River City Ransom known as River City Rumble. I wonder if that film was actually any good…
