By the way, the one protecting Southern Equestria is Chrysalis.

…On an unrelated note, I think the Nightmare Rarity arc is the only arc of the main comic thus far to NOT be helmed by Andy and Katie. Heck, I’m pretty sure they were also behind at least half of the micro-series issues…

I’m kinda hoping that, out of all the Alt’s in the other universe, Alt Spike is the most tactile and malicious. He just bypasses everyone through subterfuge and when it seems victory is at hand, this motherfucker causes a domino effect that just topples everything.

You know, I bet Mirror Spike winds up deciding to aid our heroines, a la Mirror Spock.

Doubt it. If we go by Lovecraft’s rules to alternate dimensions, AU’s are caused by whats effectively the butterfly effect. Shining being a hero in the regular Equestria is a determining factor. Celestia being benevolent is a determining factor.
 
If anything caused a shift in either universe without the interference of a higher power(see Yog-Sothoth) it would cause the worlds to collapse. Imagine a balance, with both sides being equal. Any change that occurred in one due to the others interference, would weigh doubly so on the other.
 
Shining inspiring himself to be more alter the balance drastically. To compensate, CE would have something change that would add twice as much weight on its side. Eventually this game of escalation and equilibrium would break the scale.
 
Despite being a metaphor for cosmic balance, there is in fact a breaking point even for spacial concepts. The combined increase in weight would result in collapse. Too much stress on the gestalt universe.

Yeah, but Shining Armor doesn’t look all that villainous in this cover. He just looks depressed, which has me thinking that in his case, his mirror counterpart is merely a coward. They’re opposites, but it’s not necessarily “good” swapped with “evil.”
 
But if Shining’s mirror counterpart is simply a coward… perhaps seeing the actions of the normal mane six will inspire him…
