In that case it’s almost a little eerie, since this looks exactly like a yellow perch. The bar pattern, the body shape, the dorsal spines, the shapes of the fins, the gill and mouth placement…everything.

It was supposed to be a bass. Not everypony has perfect knowledge about different fish species, so it may be that it looks more like another species.
