I liked Celestia’s micro comic as well. Although it was partly focused on her friend, you are right about Celestia figuring out how to solve her own problem.
Yes. That’s the only thing I dislike about the FiM’s writers. I don’t see why Celestia should be pushed aside and not be given the same amount respect as the Cutie Mark Crusaders and the Apple Family (AKA, the writers’ pets) are always getting.
I know. In fact, IDW shouldn’t have been the first to make a story for Celestia. It should have been FiM’s writers since they clearly know Celestia more in the episodes she’s been in.
I think RIG meant that Twi as advisor would have to be at Celly’s side 24/7 to, you know, do her job as advisor just like Kibitz does here. As princess Twi is pretty much her own lady and despite some more duties can do what she wants as Celly is the one who does the politics, Luna fights monsters at night and protect the dreamworlds and Cadance is busy ruling the crystal empire. That leaves Twi with the epic adventures to save Equestria with the help of her friends and, now gone, the EoH.
I must say I really like Kibitz, the royal advisor, he seems like a fun, because serious but nor superduberannoying seriously, character. Also his expression to smirking Celly in the first panel:
“You monster…” XDDDDDDDDDDDD
I like it too, but yeah I understand why people don’t, it could have been renamed Inkwell Micro and it left a sour taste in people who think Celestia is underused, which is most of her fanbase
It was good, but it had the potential to be great.
I think the spotlight stealing is the main issue as none of the others had that, the other side characters had the spotlight but not at that level. like this is clearing going to be a Luna “is so awesome and dorky” type of issue I don’t even NEED to read it to know what happens.
Luna’s going to have a ton of trouble and learns to see its not so easy, Celestia likewise and them hugz
Ha, that’s a pretty apt comparison, but Celestia has actually demonstrated considerably more personality than modern Mario.
Personally, I do see the royal sisters much like the Mario bros., in that you don’t really get the full impact unless the gruesome twosome are interacting with each other, as well as their environment.
Maybe it’s kind of like what Yahtzee says Nintendo is like when it comes to Mario and Luigi.
I liked the Celestia micro…It just wasn’t a good ‘first’ micro for her. It would have been a better second and have the first focus more on her, like the other micros do.
{Why do the people of FIM misuse Celestia’s character? She has so much potential and is a nice character, but she’s swept aside.}
My only real gripe is that the way the cartoon producers had thus far (poorly) handled Celestia as a character, IDW really shouldn’t have stuck an untested author to her first independent story.
pretty much
very annoying maybe if we’re lucky her next one in Friends Forever will be it, but I doubt it
Not necessarily. Just because one person finds success does not mean that their extant friends must be left in the dust.
@Star Cavalcade
You posit an interesting idea, but I’d rather not debate the merits/flaws of Princess Twilight. I think enough people have done that (within a certain definition of “debate”) here already.
becoming the advisor would mean she is away from her friends all the time, you want that?
Honestly, I kinda expected Twilight to follow Kibitz’s role as the series progressed, being a loyal and trusted advisor who assisted with administrative tasks like she did in the winter wrap up.
Then she got those magical side growths.
