I guess you are right about that. However, I still think it may cause an issue. In “sleepless”, it was only about Scootaloo’s fear, AB and SB didn’t share that. Here, even if Scootaloo is the main focus, it still sounds like the whole team has a problem, so the attention may be divided.
No use overthinking it though, I’ll just forget it and watch the episode first before saying anything else.
They’re press releases, the idea to get media interested in the property the chance to work with them. I’m sure entertainment sites like Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide are getting these to, but since pony is not as big a priority there, the news coverage gets swept under the rug.
Basically, yes, I did read the rant and everything, but reporting these pressers is not part of the EFN/news coverage problem - it’s business as usual.
Still, it’s odd for the main method for the company to take a back seat to the fan sites, not to mention after yesterday’s rant on professionalism, one does not drop a press release prior to the main site.

It will likely be up at their site later today. The same thing happened with the S4 synopsis and the S5-7 summaries over the last week - the pony sites get it and post, and then later it appears on press.discovery. (I edit the Wikipedia pages for MLP so I’m very aware of when those pressers come available).
Applebloom and Sweetie Belle were in Sleepless as well and they didn’t shift the focus of the story did they?
Funny, the Hub’s press release site over at Discovery Press Web, only has released up to the 07DEC Episode, Daring Don’t. If they haven’t dropped it, there are going to be issues.
Following the trends, it appears that Hub is sending out press releases to all the major brony sites (which includes EQD, EFN, Derpy Hooves News, etc.) at the same time. So them posting this is completely within line.(particularly considering that EQD tends to be delayed due to their posting system).

I’d be really surprised if the CMC and DT/SS are competing in the games. Everything’s implied its the flag they are to be carrying, and if Scoots can’t fly to show it off, that ruins their chances, so another team (DT/SS)’s would be picked over theirs.
