Oh, right.
Rarity made it.
I don’t think what Death battle says is canon though, as that’s never been stated officially. I don’t think Tails can run that fast without his tail propulsion. Though, the speed all the Sonic characters is very debatable. (“Sonic Heroes” and the “Sonic Advance” games don’t help matters. Even Big the cat could run fast in SH. lol)
Considering the brain power behind all three of them, it would be some interesting pairings, especially if they were cross-fertile (Super brainiac babies of doom!)
@ThatRandomGuy42
According to Death battle, Tails can keep up with Sonic’s lower speeds by using his tails for propulsion, and is able to hit 100 MPH without using them.
Well, in the games, at least, Sonic is Mach 10 at the highest, but between gameplay/hardware limitations, and his own personality (he’s a cocky show-off that doesn’t see any reason to bring his A-game to what he considers playful sport, after all), we rarely see him bust out those ridiculous speeds of his.
Only times we ever really see him go all out with his speed is during his fight versus Emerl in Battle, and when he was escaping the singularity in Colours.

She wants the Hard Drive.
sega must’ve been on some coke if they made sonic fast….lost world though made him a bit slow to more of his genesis type gameplay
@ThatRandomGuy42
The Game Theory video is over-analyzing and very ignorant. The reason Sonic seems slow is due to both hardware and human limitation. The former, making Sonic actually break the sound barrier would fry any processor. The latter… do you honestly think Sonic’s games would be playable if he was actually going Mach 1 or more? You wouldn’t be able to react to incoming traps or enemies, and the pretty scenery would be nothing but a blur. To use a TVTropes name, Gameplay and Story Segregation: Sonic may seem subsonic at best in most gameplay, but in-universe he’s crazy fast. One should also consider that it’s perfectly in Sonic’s character to hold back and screw around with his enemies.
As for Sonic’s real top speed? It depends on the incarnation of Sonic, really. He can be anywhere between Mach 1 to faster-than-light. In games, he does have impressive speed feats that put him far beyond Rainbow Dash’s estimated Mach 10: outrunning explosions, dodging actual lasers, defeating a much faster enemy, Ultimate Emerl, in a 10 round fight in less than 30 seconds, keeping up with Wisps who are capable of zipping in and out of Earth’s atmosphere in 4 seconds(almost Mach 3000), and even resisting the pull of a black hole for several seconds with nothing but speed. All in base form.
inb4 “you’re overanalyzing too!”
Seriously Dashfans, Rainbow would be horribly outclassed in a race with Sonic if he got serious. Dashie doesn’t deserve to be utterly defeated and humiliated.
Well, they sometimes over-analyze stuff.
How fast is Sonic anyway? I know Game Theory did a thing and said he was actually pretty slow.
Looked like a load of bullshit to me though.
I like to think that in Heroes, Sonic’s intentionally slowing down for the sake of letting the others keep up with him. It sorta fits in with his ‘I can move at mach 5~10, I can afford to kick back.’
@ThatRandomGuy42
If you go by the “Sonic Advance,” and “Sonic Heroes” games EVERYONE is as fast as Sonic. (Even Big the cat!) :P

In “Sonic Rush Adventure,” I discovered a very cheap short-cut with Blaze in the first level, that allows you to skip that grinding segment at the end of the level as Blaze.
I must add nearly everyone on online Wi-Fi VS mode wants to be Sonic usually. Nobody wants to be Blaze hardly.
Metal Sonic, foo’. Also, Shadow seems to have slowed down (just slightly) compared to Sonic in favor of becoming more destructive, judging from Sonic Battle and Generations.
@ThatRandomGuy42
Blaze can keep up a bit, but she’s a fair deal slower. You can notice this in the VS modes for the Rush games. Sonic is faster than Blaze, but Blaze is more acrobatic and can jump higher and such, making her able to reach higher routes to keep up with him that way.
HAMBURGURES!
If you look in the games he is just as fast, he just has a head start.
Blaze can keep up with him last time I checked.
Robotnik runs faster than sonic.
But Robotnik has run just as fast Sonic.
And Silver is slow.
