Technically MLP does use cgi, not 3D cgi like Prime but it IS cgi.  
And you don’t know much of Transformers if you really think it would end just for Optimus being dead.He had a respawn counter before it was cool.

not sure if anyone cares but another reason mlp keeps on going is the type of animation its not as expensive as lets say transformers prime because that show used cgi (mlp did use it too but only like once or twice cant remember)
 
plus Transformers Prime reached the best possible moment to end they killed Optimus Prime so and hasbro nowdays has to have op as the main autobot (alongside Bumblebee)

MLP is the Hub’s biggest show,though.
 
Ironic, since the original marketing for the network centered around Transformers Prime, with the assumption that it would be their big franchise.

Eh plenty of good shows have been cancelled before they should have (Young Justice and Symbonic Titan being just a few examples), meanwhile Johnny Test continues on.
